What to Expect: Your Remodel, Step by Step

So… you hired us. Now what?
We know that major remodels can be overwhelming—and that not knowing what’s going on in your own house can make things worse. That’s why we prioritize communication, clarity, and care every step of the way. When you work with us, you’ll never be left wondering what’s happening, who’s coming over, or when things will be done.
Here’s how it works:
Project Schedule Access
We create a live construction schedule that you can access anytime.
As soon as we kick off your project, we’ll set up a shared spreadsheet with the full construction timeline. You’ll always know:
- What work is happening
- Who’s scheduled to be on-site
- When key phases are starting or wrapping up
We update the schedule regularly so you’re never in the dark. If work pauses for any reason (weather, materials, inspections, etc.), you’ll know why—and when we’ll be back on-site.
We also send near-daily updates during active phases of your project so you understand what’s been done and what’s coming next.
Being in Your House
We treat your home with respect.
Remodeling is disruptive—there’s no way around that. But we do everything we can to minimize the impact on your day-to-day life.
We use:
- Zippered plastic doors to contain dust
- Floor coverings along worker paths
- Protective wrap on trim, doors, and finished surfaces
We also keep the job site as clean as possible throughout the process and make sure you always know who’s coming and going from your home.
Ordering Materials
We don’t mark up materials. Ever.
Want a vanity from Menards? A light fixture from Restoration Hardware? No problem—we’ll help you get exactly what you want, and you’ll pay the retail price (or contractor pricing, if we can get a discount—we pass those savings on to you).
We simply charge a flat rate for our time managing and picking up materials. This gives you the freedom to shop where you want, while we handle the logistics.
Managing Materials
We keep track of everything so you don’t have to.
We’ll provide a shared spreadsheet listing:
- Every item you need to select
- Helpful links and product ideas (if needed)
- Deadlines for when decisions need to be made
All you have to do is paste the product links into the sheet when you’re ready, and we’ll get it ordered and make sure it’s on-site when it’s needed.
We’ll also keep an eye on lead times and flag anything that could affect the timeline.
You’re Not Alone in This
We don’t disappear after demo day. Whether we’re swinging hammers or managing subcontractors, we’re actively involved in your project from start to finish. You’ll be hearing from us regularly—and we’re always available for questions.
Remodels work best when everyone’s on the same page.
